There was a time on the web, when blogging was a hot thing. It was a great way to show that you were a Subject Matter Expert in a given thing. The hope at the time was, that having a blog would draw new or existing clients/friends/whoever to your website, to see what the latest news was. What’s the new shiny thing? Unfortunately, this required that the site owner spend the time to sit down and figure out what to say. Ugh. Boring.
The times they have changed folks, and blogging has migrated to being a tool for SEO (Search Engine Optimziation) and a hook for social media. If a user makes the effort to carefully write out a short blog (having a long blog entry is an almost guaranteed way to be sure someone won’t read it!) entry where selective keywords (potential search words) are used in the content. This helps the blog entry be found by Google users, which hopefully draws them to the site to learn more.
