Scammers know that most of us are buying our household items online nowadays. Many of these transactions happen on Amazon or similar, and use Paypal to pay for them. Scammers also  know that the public can tend to freak out when we get emails claiming our information has been compromised, or that we need to update our billing information to keep it safe! First, it’s important to know that NONE of these actual businesses would send out an email saying any of that. This is a common scam tactic (fear) and any email you get (even if it says it’s from Amazon) that asks for you to login to confirm ANYTHING, should be deleted and ignored! New WordPress version 5.4.2 update! Quick note for anyone running a website on the WordPress platform, the new release includes a bunch of security patches and fixes for some platform wide issues! Please consider backing up your existing site, and then run the update to be sure your site is properly secure. These issues are wide and varied, and can provide hackers and malware opportunities to inject javascript and redirects to very inappropriate places!  If you’re not sure whether your site is up to date for security or any number of other issues, reach out to us!

There’s no question that many small businesses and organizations have had to pivot and make some organization and procedural changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Isolation and quaratining (is that a word?) have changed how MANY people do business. This results in these same entities having to make changes to their websites to reflect some message on the home page, or change other content and imagery to reflect those new processes. It’s hugely flexible with many available editor programs, and many, many plugins to add functionality commonly seen on many big name websites. Truth be told, WordPress is probably one of the most targeted website platforms for hackers and malware!  Thankfully, the platform (and plugin) authors are constantly writing patches and fixes to block new vulnerabilities on a regular basis.
